Sensato MD-COP

Secure your medical devices

A single solution for medical devices. Sensato Medical Device Cybersecurity Operations Platform addresses short-term tactical requirements as well as strategic medical device cybersecurity needs.

Sensato’s MD-COP program includes components that allow organizations to understand security risks and policy gaps, deploy breach detection, perform medical-device manufacturer cyber security risk assessments, and more.

Sensato pulled us in with their ability to monitor medical devices. They built their environment around tracking medical devices and ensuring that they are secure. No other vendors proposed that ability or focused on it, and making sure medical devices are being kept safe is a big concern in healthcare…

We are a small hospital, so we don’t have a lot of manpower sometimes. We would have to hire a few people to have eyes on our devices at all times, and the cost of that would be overbearing in comparison to having a SOC. A SOC could offer thins on the computer and medical sides, and that is what drove us to Sensato.

The Sensato MD-COP Difference

Development and deployment of policy and practices related to medical device cybersecurity can be a challenge for many healthcare organizations. To help address the administrative, operational and technical aspects of medical device security MD-COP provides a comprehensive set of best practices, default written policy, and a 120-question manufacturer assessment framework based on MDS and VA.

Each MD-COP program includes the Sensato-Nightingale honeypot. This powerful platform helps to identify targeted attacks against medical devices while also allowing you to collect forensic data and execute countermeasures.

MD-COP is not just a technical solution. Aside from providing you with policies and practices, assessment frameworks, and technical infrastructure, MD-COP also includes guidance and coaching as well as a highly advanced GRC system powered by ComplyAssistant.

Further, each MD-COP solution includes membership in the Sensato-ISAO, providing ongoing access to threat intelligence, vulnerability disclosure, and community-based best practices and support.

With Sensato, you are never alone. You have our team providing overwatch of your medical device network via the Sensato-CTOC advanced monitoring center.

We have your back, with thousands of intelligence sensors, host intrusion detection systems (HIDS) and network intrusion detection systems (NIDS), log analysis, behavioral analysis, case management, exception management, native integration with Sensato-Nightingale, INFOCON threat level system support and more.

It may sound like a cliché, but our mission truly is to stand between good and evil.  We take that mission extremely seriously.  Sensato is not a company that just sees healthcare as another sales channel; it is our core focus and the basis of our origin story.

The bottom line is we care—about you, your organization, and your people.  We will stand with you, shoulder-to-shoulder, between good and evil.

The Evolution of Medical Device Security

A few years ago, the FDA held a workshop to gather insights into the state of medical device security. The result was a realization that the healthcare industry did not have a practical and realistic approach to medical device security.

This turned into a personal calling for Sensato CEO, John Gomez, and he founded the Medical Device Cybersecurity Taskforce (MDCT), which later evolved into the Sensato Information Sharing & Analysis Organization (ISAO) at the request of the FDA.

The outcome of the work of the MDCT is this Medical Device Cybersecurity Field Manual—everything you need to know to implement your own medical device cybersecurity program.
